Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to fraudulent online advertisements using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images of him.
In a post made on his X page on Saturday titled “Public Disclaimer on Misuse of My Images”, Obi said he has no affiliation with any of the products, businesses or endorsement schemes being promoted in his name on social media platforms.

“I am aware that many individuals and organisations use AI-generated images of me to advertise various products online. This unauthorised use of my image has gone on blatantly lately. Ordinarily, I would gladly support any genuine endeavour by Nigerians that contributes positively to our nation and to the people involved, but not without authorisation,” Obi said.
He warned that some of the adverts are being used by “unscrupulous persons” to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, despite repeated rebuttals issued by his team.
“For this reason, I wish to state categorically that I am not associated with any of these advertisements… I remain committed to promoting transparency, integrity, and ventures that genuinely advance the common good of our society,” he added.
The former Anambra governor urged Nigerians to exercise vigilance and disregard any adverts linking him to products, endorsements or business schemes, stressing that such associations were fraudulent and unauthorised.
