NNPC, Chevron discover new oil well in Niger Delta

NNPC Ltd and Chevron Nigeria Limited have discovered a new oil well in the Niger Delta.

The discovery followed the successful drilling of the Awodi-07 appraisal and exploration well in the shallow offshore area of the western Niger Delta.

Chevron drilled the well under its joint venture with NNPC Ltd.

NNPC Ltd said drilling started in late November 2025 and ended in mid-December 2025. The company noted that operations were carried out safely and in line with regulatory standards.

Test results confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in several reservoir zones.

Details of the discovery were contained in a statement signed by NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, and dated January 26, 2026.
