Nigerian tattoo artist pursues legal action following beating, false assault claim

Tattoo artist Sanmi is taking legal action after being beaten over false sexual assault claims by model Dami.

On February 4, Dami posted a video showing three men attacking Sanmi. She accused him of inappropriate conduct during a tattoo session and tagged him as an “Assaulter.”

Sanmi gave a different account. In a video backed by chat screenshots and CCTV footage, he said Dami volunteered to model for a free tattoo and chose to have it on her cleavage. He said his brother was at home during the session and that nothing inappropriate happened.

He claimed that after leaving peacefully, Dami returned with three men pretending to be police officers. They beat him and demanded ₦50,000 and an apology. He eventually paid ₦20,000 but insisted he had done nothing wrong.

Sanmi also said Dami rejected his apology and demanded he be filmed while apologizing. “This is not the first time she has done this to a man,” he added, vowing to pursue legal action.

The case has sparked mixed reactions online. User @KhaliqTweets wrote: “False accusers sef gats dey face am!”

User @cry_baby__x questioned Dami’s motive: “Just to embarrass him? To extort him? Or to destroy an innocent him? Her motive should really be checked.”

Dami has deleted her post for legal reasons but says she will continue fighting the case. The matter is now headed to court.
