Nigerian DJ Association slam ban on Burna Boy’s songs after altercation with DJ Tunez

The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has slammed a ban on songs by Burna Boy after his alleged altercation with DJ Tunez at a Lagos event.

The incident reportedly happened on Monday at Obi’s House, a weekly Afrobeats gathering. An argument between both men is said to have turned into a physical confrontation before it was stopped.

The cause of the clash is still unclear. However, DJ Tunez is closely linked to Wizkid, and fans have often compared both camps.

In a statement on Instagram, the NDJ backed DJ Tunez and confirmed the boycott.

“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice. Our team will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident… involving one of our own, DJ Tunez,” it said.

The association also called for unity in the industry.

“No one is born hating another because of the skin colour, religion, background or gender… they can also be taught to love.”

It added, “Here at NigerianDJ, we put all our DJs first, standing firm on ‘ALL DJs are EQUAL.’”

The ban affects DJs in Nigeria and abroad, and could limit Burna Boy’s airplay at events.

Burna Boy and his team have not responded as of the time of this report.
