Woman arrested for ₦523,600 ATM card swap fraud in Rivers

Mystery surrounds Inspector Haruna Mohammed’s death in Ogun hotel room, authorities hunt for killer

The Ogun State Police Command is searching for a woman linked to the mysterious death of Inspector Haruna Mohammed.

The officer, attached to the Ishashi Division of the Lagos State Police Command, checked into a hotel with the woman around 1:00 a.m. on February 15, 2025, at Anthony Uzum Estate in Oyeyemi Akute, Ogun State. However, hours later, he was found dead under unclear circumstances.

Concerns grew when the hotel manager, responding to guest complaints, went to inspect the room at 8:52 a.m. The door was unlocked, and inside, he found Inspector Mohammed lifeless. Adding to the suspicion, the woman who entered with him had already disappeared.

Earlier that morning, around 6:00 a.m., she had visited the hotel reception to request a bottle of tap water. Strangely, she left the bottle behind before vanishing. Now, the police are treating the case as suspicious and have intensified efforts to track her down. Although her identity remains undisclosed, authorities urge anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigation.

This case has reignited concerns about the safety of officers off duty. Just last month, a similar incident shook the police force when Inspector Lawal Ibrahim from the Kwali Division in the Federal Capital Territory died in a hotel after a sexual encounter with a woman he met online. In that case, the police arrested the woman, Maryam Abba, though details of the investigation remain undisclosed.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command continues to push forward in its search for the missing woman, emphasizing its commitment to uncovering the truth. As the investigation deepens, the public is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. For now, the family, friends, and colleagues of Inspector Haruna Mohammed grieve his sudden loss, hoping for answers and justice.
