Mbappé returns to Madrid for treatment after ankle discomfort

Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn from the France national team camp and returned to Madrid after developing inflammation in his right ankle, team officials confirmed on Friday.

 

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reported the development, noting that Mbappé left the France camp to begin immediate assessment and treatment in Madrid following the discomfort.

The extent of the inflammation has not yet been made public, leaving uncertainty over the forward’s availability for Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures.

 

Mbappé, who scored a brace in France’s 4-0 victory over Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier, had been in strong form before the setback. France will now continue their training camp without the 26-year-old, while Real Madrid’s medical staff closely monitor his condition in the coming day
