The Nigerian Police Force has stated that smoking, making of phone calls at filling stations is a criminal offence, which could make the offender to be jailed.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood while reacting to this said: “a filling station is a public place and motorists cannot act anyhow on the account that inflammable substances are dispensed there.
“An offender could be prosecuted and jailed for attempted arson.”
He, however, noted that police officers have the authority to arrest anyone found making phone calls or smoking at filling stations.
