Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1, go fourth on EPL table

Liverpool FC moved up to fourth in the Premier League after a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace FC at Anfield.

The result boosts their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, especially after Aston Villa FC lost to Fulham FC earlier in the day.

Despite losing three times to Palace this season, Arne Slot’s side started well and controlled the game early on.

They thought they had a penalty when Mohamed Salah went down under a challenge, but VAR overturned the decision.

Liverpool took the lead in the 35th minute through Alexander Isak. He reacted quickly to a loose ball from Alexis Mac Allister and lifted his shot over Dean Henderson.

Palace tried to respond, but goalkeeper Freddie Woodman made key saves to keep Liverpool ahead.

The hosts doubled their lead soon after. A quick counter-attack ended with Andy Robertson finishing from close range.

Palace pulled one back late in the game. Daniel Muñoz scored into an empty net after Woodman was left on the ground following a save.

The visitors almost equalised, but Jørgen Strand Larsen hit the post.

Liverpool made sure of the win in stoppage time. Florian Wirtz scored to seal all three points.

The win was overshadowed by an injury to Salah, who was forced off late on.

“This could be the end of him in a Liverpool shirt,” a former Aston Villa and Tottenham manager told Sky Sports.

“You can see him grab his left hamstring. What a sad end for him. What an ovation there will be for him.”

Salah looked emotional as he left the pitch, applauding the fans.

Liverpool now sit fourth, with an eight-point gap over sixth-placed Brighton.
