The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has handed over the sexual assault allegation involving TikTok user Mirabel (@mirab351) to the Ogun State Police Command after preliminary findings showed the incident did not occur in Lagos.
The agency said investigations revealed that the alleged rape took place in Ogun State, placing the matter outside its jurisdiction and necessitating a referral to the appropriate authorities.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Titilola Adeniyi-Vivour, said the agency established contact with a close friend of the survivor, who confirmed that Mirabel had been discharged from the hospital.
“Following our earlier statement and the widespread public response, we successfully established communication with a close friend of the survivor who confirmed that she had been discharged from the hospital,” the agency said.
The case had triggered widespread outrage on social media, trending under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen, with many Nigerians demanding swift justice and stronger protection for women and girls.
DSVA acknowledged the role of the public in drawing attention to the matter and providing useful information.
“We sincerely appreciate members of the public who provided helpful information via our direct messages, as well as everyone who tagged the agency to ensure swift intervention,” it said.
The agency added that all relevant details in its possession had been forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration and survivor protection.

DSVA expressed confidence that the Ogun State Police Command is handling the matter and urged the survivor to cooperate fully to ensure a thorough investigation and due process.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating sexual and domestic violence, the agency encouraged survivors to report cases and assured them of confidentiality and support.
“We remain committed to supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence and ensuring that accessible channels remain available for reporting and intervention,” the agency said.
