Kwara govt produces N290m Nollywood film to tackle kidnapping

The Kwara State Government has completed the production of a ₦290 million Nollywood film series aimed at addressing the growing menace of kidnapping in Nigerian society.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the state Commissioner for Communications, Bola Olukoju, said the film — titled Ajuwaya — is the debut project of the Kwara State Government’s Sugar Factory Film Studios, with 1,211 people involved in its production.

Olukoju described the project as a milestone for the state’s creative industry, revealing that 712 crew members have since taken up residency in Kwara. She added that the production was supported by a ₦350 million grant from Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative.

Featuring top Nollywood stars such as Desmond Elliot, Femi Adebayo, Keppy Ekpeyong, Segun Arinze, Tina Mba, and Monalisa Chinda, the commissioner said the project created jobs for artisans and professionals, including caterers, make-up artists, carpenters, and drivers.
