Following a terrorist attack on the Kuje Correctional Center, one of the detainees who escaped has been captured by the Kano State Police Command.
Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, a 25-year-old suspect from Kaduna State, was taken into custody there in the locality of Ungogo.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Kiyawa, revealed this in a statement on Friday, October 7, 2022, stating that the escapee had been given to Kano State’s Nigeria Correctional Service.
“On 23/09/2022 at about 1800hrs, based on credible information and sustained intelligence gathering, a team of Operation Restore Peace attached to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested one Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, ‘m’, 25 years old of Badarawa Quarters, Kaduna North LGA, Kaduna State, a suspected Kuje Correctional Centre escapee,” the statement read.
“The suspect was arrested at Rangaza Quarters, Ungogo LGA, Kano State. The Commissioner of Police directed that the suspected escapee be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State Command.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal appreciates the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.
“He urged residents to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.
