The family of Inspector of Corps (IC) Ilyasu Abraham, a victim of the attack on Kuje Medium Custodial Center, received a check from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for N2.8 million.
At the Corps National Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, August 4, the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, consoled the family over the loss of their breadwinner and encouraged them that the officer would be remembered as a hero who died in active service. He also presented a check for N2.5 million and the sum of N300,000 in cash to Mrs. Elizabeth Abraham and daughter Abimiku Blessing.
He stressed that it is an intervention from the government and the Corps to aid the family of the deceased in alleviating some burial expenditures and that the money handed to the family was in fulfillment of his promise to guarantee that proper compensation is delivered to the family in due time.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of all officers and men in the Corps and extended the assistance of his administration to the families of the deceased personnel.
The CG promised that the late Inspector Iliya’s daughter would be hired by the Corps as soon as the Federal Government approved her application for enlistment.
Recall that Inspector of Corps Abraham Iliya of the FCT Command passed away while performing his job on July 5, 2022, at Kuje Medium Custodial Center when armed militants seized the facility.
The nation was reassured by the Commandant General that the Corps will continue to carry out its other missions, including the regulation of private guards, the protection of critical infrastructure and national assets, as well as the lives and property of law-abiding residents.
Audi took advantage of the occasion to urge the Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, Area Commanders, CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, CG’s Special Anti-vandal Squad, Components Commanders, etc., to keep coming up with innovative plans as they collaborate with other security agencies to address all kinds of security issues affecting our beloved nation, Nigeria.
The CG reaffirmed his appeal to all residents to continue providing security services with pertinent information to thwart criminal activity, stating with optimism that all obstacles posed by insecurity in Nigeria could be overcome.
