Katy Perry did kiss a girl at 15, did you know who?

If you’re struggling to remember anything which happened in
2008, here’s a trip down memory lane.

It was the year of the worst financial crisis since the
Great Depression. Childhood sweethearts Coleen McLoughlin and Wayne Rooney tied
the knot. Obama won the United States presidential election and Katy Perry burst onto the
pop scene with ‘I Kissed a Girl.’

The musical equivalent of Marmite, love or loathe it, Katy’s
debut single got people talking.

Similarly to Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’, the song’s
supposed subject became the focus of intense speculation, and not just among
Katy’s tween fanbase.

Now, nine years later, Katy’s unlikely muse has come
forward.

Speaking to 103.5 KTU , none other than Wrecking Ball singer
Miley Cyrus explained how her long-term friend, Katy, had joked she was the
subject of the song.

Moving past the fact Miley was just fifteen in 2008, – and
Katy 23 – Miley added:

“When she came out with I Kissed A Girl I was doing the
Hannah Montana movie and I heard her on the radio. They said, ‘Who’d you write
that about?’ And she said me.

“I was on a four-wheeler – my dad had this
four-wheeler, this is how hillbilly we are – and we had a radio attached to the
four-wheeler. I heard it and started screaming and freaking out.”

Slave to the Rhythm singer Katy has also since come forward
and recently confirmed on Australian breakfast TV show Sunrise that it was
indeed her good chum Miley who is behind the song.

Though not before joking: “Who knows where that tongue
has been!”

So there you go, there might have been no Katy Perry had she
