Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Reports indicate that the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, along with 22 other lawmakers, also announced their resignation from the opposition party.

Governor Diri made the announcement on Wednesday at the Executive Council Chamber of the Bayelsa State Government House, barely 24 hours after his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
As of the time of filing this report, Diri is yet to disclose his next political move.
