JUST IN: Bayelsa deputy gov slumps, rushed to hospital

There was concern in Bayelsa State on Thursday over the health of the deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

According to reports,  the Senator Ewhrudjakpo reportedly slumped at the Government House on Thursday morning.

He was said to have been in a long meeting with community leaders and stakeholders over pipeline surveillance contractors earlier in the day. The meeting reportedly lasted several hours.

Afterward, Ewhrudjakpo allegedly collapsed on the staircase and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where doctors worked to stabilise him.

The development temporarily halted government activities as officials waited for updates on his condition.

A government source, who asked not to be named, said the deputy governor was immediately placed on oxygen and dismissed fears that “the worst might have happened.”

Another source said the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, who is currently out of the country, is already returning to Nigeria because of the situation.
