Kanye West’s 2020 White House run and support for former President Donald Trump led John Legend to sever their connection.
Legend claimed that their inability to stay friends was due to “our open disagreement on his running for office and supporting Trump.”
The singer-songwriter claimed they aren’t “friends as much as we used to be” on CNN’s “The Axe Files” podcast with David Axelrod.
According to Legend, West was unappreciative of his loved ones’ lack of support while he was campaigning. He stated:
“He was upset that I didn’t support his run for presidency of the United States of America — for understandable reasons.”

The fraternity was working hard for him, the singer continued. In all honesty, he stated, “I think it became too much for us to maintain our friendship.”
Legend added;
“Like, he’s been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he’s dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get.”
The “All of Me” artist avidly supported President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 presidential election, speaking publicly and performing at their inaugural concert.
The artist aggressively expresses his political opinions, although he has no immediate plans to enter politics. He also takes pleasure in using the organizations he works with to influence politics and charity.
Legend said;
“I do not want to run for office. I definitely don’t want to do it now. I don’t envision myself wanting to do it in the future.
“I feel like I’m able to make a big impact through the work that I’m doing, and I like the way that I’m doing it now.”
West gave Trump a lot of support while he was in office, donning “Make America Great Again” hats and paying him a visit in the White House.
According to the Hill, the rapper declared his 2020 presidential campaign on Twitter under the handle Birthday Party and said he would “trust God” to lead American politics.
