Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement and 2023 PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against making a political comeback in 2027, saying he stands no chance against President Bola Tinubu.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, Jandor said Jonathan would be taking a “huge political risk” if he decides to join the race, warning that those urging him to contest are only deceiving him.
“I disagree with people calling on Jonathan to re-contest, people saying he’s the only one who can challenge Tinubu because of his popularity and experience,” Jandor said.
“It was this same man (Tinubu) that defeated him from the outside. They are not the same.”
The PDP chieftain described Tinubu as “a master in the game of politics,” insisting that Jonathan would suffer a humiliating defeat if he runs in 2027.
“If you accidentally found yourself at Aso Villa as President, it’s different from someone who gave his all to get there,” he said. “Such a man cannot be compared to someone who just slept and woke up in power.”
Jandor advised the former president to listen to his wife, Patience Jonathan, who had also publicly discouraged him from contesting again.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing his reforms as “bold and beneficial” to the nation, particularly at the state and local government levels.
“We’re not saying all is well, but at least the President has shown courage by taking our common patrimony from the pockets of a few in the name of fuel subsidy and returning it to the people,” he said.
“Allocations have tripled. States now have enough money to impact lives.”

According to Jandor, Tinubu has also stabilised the foreign exchange market and blocked loopholes that allowed corrupt enrichment through rate discrepancies.
“You can’t become a billionaire overnight through forex manipulation anymore. This man stopped that,” he added.
He, however, urged state and local governments to use their increased allocations to cushion the effects of economic reforms at the grassroots, while calling on the Nigerian Armed Forces to intensify support for the President in tackling security challenges.
Jandor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance in Lagos, saying his political vision remains to build “a Lagos where opportunity, innovation, and prosperity are accessible to all.”
