‘It’s tough for me’, Anthony Joshua breaks silence on friends’ death

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has finally spoken out following his close friends’ death.

In a touching message posted on his Instagram page, Joshua honoured the memories of Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who lost their lives in a fatal car crash in Nigeria last month.

The boxing icon conveyed deep sorrow while also thanking those who have shown support to the bereaved families.

Writing on Thursday, Joshua said he was still struggling to come to terms with the loss, describing Ghami and Ayodele as exceptional individuals whose true worth became clearer to him after their deaths.

“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they were. We would walk together, joke around, not knowing God had placed me in the company of great men,” he wrote.

Joshua acknowledged the emotional toll of their passing, noting that the pain was even greater for their parents.

“It’s extremely hard for me, but I know it’s far more difficult for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I trust that God knows their hearts. May God show mercy to my brothers,” he added.

Recall that Joshua had previously opened up about the heartbreaking loss of his two close friends during an emotional discussion with UFC star Kamaru Usman.
