A class representative has reportedly been arrested after his course mates accused him of inflating the price of a departmental handout from ₦3,500 to ₦8,500.
According to social media reports, the incident occurred after students discovered that the class rep arrested for handout fraud allegedly made a significant profit from the sale of the compulsory course material. The handout was said to have been provided by the lecturer at a subsidised rate (N3,500), but students were allegedly charged more than double(8,500) the original price.
Trouble reportedly started when some course mates noticed that the class representative had suddenly upgraded his mobile phone from an iPhone XR to an iPhone 16 shortly after distributing the handouts. This raised suspicion among the students, who confronted him over the pricing of the material.

Eyewitnesses claimed that during the confrontation, the students demanded an explanation for the price difference, insisting that the class rep arrested for handout fraud had failed to provide a satisfactory account of how the extra money was used.
The disagreement reportedly escalated, leading some students to report the matter to security operatives. The class representative was subsequently taken into custody for questioning over the alleged overpricing of the handout.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident. However, the development has sparked widespread reactions online, with many users debating issues of accountability, trust, and transparency among student leaders.
