Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has again dismissed speculations about his alleged plan to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking to journalists on Friday after the Eid prayers marking the end of the 2026 Ramadan fast, the governor described the rumours as false and unfounded. His response comes amid growing conversations around party alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Bala Mohammed PDP defection rumours gaining traction in recent days.
Mohammed reaffirmed his position within the PDP, noting that despite internal leadership challenges, he remains a key stakeholder in the party. He added that the issues facing the PDP are not beyond resolution, expressing confidence that they can be addressed through dialogue and strategic engagement.
According to him, “We are where we are today. Politics is dynamic, but we must be strategic in playing it to the advantage of the teeming supporters and party members.” He stressed that the Bala Mohammed PDP defection rumours should not distract from efforts to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
