Nigerian chef and culinary star Hilda Baci has once again etched her name into the Guinness World Records. This time, she set a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The record-breaking feat, officially confirmed by Guinness World Records on Monday, September 15, 2025, took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, on September 12. Working in partnership with food brand Gino Nigeria, Hilda prepared an astonishing 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice, equivalent to over 16,600 plates.
According to Guinness World Records, the cook-a-thon required nine hours of nonstop work, 1,200 kilograms of gas, and an incredible blend of teamwork and passion.
“Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice 🍲 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) by @hildabaci and @ginonaija 🇳🇬. Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has made her way back into the record books after kick-starting record fever across Africa,” the organisation announced on its official social pages.

This latest triumph comes two years after Baci’s first Guinness World Record in June 2023, when she set the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual) with 93 hours and 11 minutes.
The massive jollof feast included:
4,000 kg of basmati rice
612 kg of oil
800 kg of peppered chicken and party jollof
600 kg of jollof pepper mix
300 kg of onion, garlic, and ginger blend
164 kg of fresh goat meat
The celebration drew huge online reactions, with Nigerians and fans across Africa applauding her achievement.
One user wrote, “Akwa Ibom girl to the world, congratulations Hilda Baci.” Another added, “This is beautiful. A smart, successful woman breaking records. She’s a role model.”
