Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has received words of encouragement from his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Davido, who was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration “With You” featuring Omah Lay, lost the award to South African singer Tyla, who secured her second win in the category after previously winning with Water when the category was introduced.
Reacting to the outcome, the Timeless crooner took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday to express faith and resilience despite the setback. Sharing photos from the award ceremony, Davido wrote in pidgin English, “Oluwa dey my side,” meaning “God is on my side.”
Governor Adeleke, a long-time supporter of his nephew’s music career, responded to the post with a message of encouragement, writing, “Proud of you always @davido.”
Davido replied warmly to his uncle’s message, saying, “Love u Excellency!!! We move accordingly sir.”
