A Horrific accident involving a Total Petroleum tanker with plate number MUS 870 ST, a Micra Taxi and Okada occurred around 12:35pm today along the Palms Malls side, Ring Road area in Ibadan claiming the lives of four (4) person including a woman with a few months old baby strapped on her back.
According to eye witnesses, the driver of the fully loaded fuel truck trailer had a brake failure on a sloppy part of the road causing it to lean on the Micra vehicle (apparently for Support) before the Micra veered off path from the tanker only for the tanker to run into the commercial motorcycle which was stationed to drop off his passengers, the woman and her baby, Ibadancity Announcer reported.
However, the motorcyclist and his passenger were not lucky as the tanker driver ran into them crushing and killing them instantly. A fourth by-stander had her legs crushed in the accident and died on the way to the hospital.

The tanker driver has since been apprehended by the security agents who were on ground to prevent angry mob from lynching him and burning the fuel tanker.
Already, Security Operatives and Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps were on ground to control divert traffic, while the mangled remains of the casualties have been taken to the mortuary by the Federal Road Safety Corps
Accidents involving tanker drivers have become a perennial problem on major roads in Nigeria and Ibadan in particular resulting in the death of thousands of people yearly.
