Wuraola Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, popularly known as Queen Zaynab, has once again drawn public attention following reports of her marriage to Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
Her marital history, often discussed in political and social circles, has continued to spark widespread interest due to the calibre of men she has been linked with over the years, figures who wield significant political, traditional and economic influence within and outside Nigeria.
Marriage to the Ooni of Ife
Wuraola rose to national prominence in 2016 after marrying Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, one of Africa’s most revered monarchs. Their highly publicised traditional wedding took place in March 2016.
However, the marriage lasted about 17 months before she confirmed their separation in August 2017, publicly announcing that the union had ended. She subsequently reverted to her maiden name, Zaynab Otiti-Obanor.

Alleged marriages to political heavyweights
Beyond her marriage to the Ooni, Wuraola has also been allegedly linked to other powerful Nigerian figures. Social media reports and public commentary have claimed that she was once married to a Nigerian senator and, at another point, to a former state governor.
However, no official records or credible media reports have identified the names of the alleged senator or former governor, nor have details of the marriages or divorces been independently verified. As a result, these claims remain speculative and unconfirmed.
Reported union with an Arab prince
Wuraola has also been reported to have married a wealthy Arab prince after her separation from the Ooni. While the identity of the prince has not been publicly disclosed, online reports suggest the relationship produced a child and later ended quietly.
As with the claims involving Nigerian politicians, details surrounding the Arab marriage remain largely private and have not been officially documented.
Marriage to Nigeria’s SGF
In late 2025, reports emerged confirming that Wuraola had married Senator George Akume, Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation and former Governor of Benue State.
Although the marriage was said to have taken place earlier, it only became public after photos and family confirmations surfaced online. The union places Wuraola once again at the centre of Nigeria’s political elite.
