Sleeping naked is something a lot of people think is synonymous with the women folk, but the need to ensure maximum productivity among men has made it a critical subject of discussion.
These days when skintight pants are trendy fashion, the need to save the sperm is even more important than never before.
According to a study conducted in 2015 by the US’ National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Maryland and Stanford University, sleeping in boxer shorts or pajamas could damage sperm production and harm the chances of having a baby.
With low sperm count being one of the main reasons men have fertility issues, no doubt, sleeping naked should come handy with the makeup of adults.
In all the gospel of sleeping naked, it should be well established that not sleeping naked doesn’t automatically lead to unhealthy living.
Dr Oluwaseun Abiola Odu, a general practitioner, explained that for ladies, sleeping naked can help prevent fungal infection in their private region as there will be air current flowing through, but the largest benefits are to men.
“There are benefits to sleeping without clothes. However, the benefits are not sacrosanct. In other words, it is not like if you don’t sleep naked, the world will fall on you,” he said.
For all it’s worth, you may want to consider these reasons and decide to stay naked tonight and probably the next.

You stand a chance of losing weight
Sleeping naked has a slew of health benefits, including helping you to lose weight.
A study conducted by the United States National Institutes of Health found that keeping yourself cool while you sleep speeds the body’s metabolism because your body creates more brown fat to keep you warm.
Brown fat produces heat by burning calories (300 times more heat than any organ in the body), and this boosts your metabolism all day long to help you lose weight.
In addition to the metabolic effects of sleeping in the buff, removing your clothes improves blood circulation, which is good for your heart and muscles.
The quality sleep you’ll enjoy also increases the release of growth hormone and melatonin, both of which have anti-aging benefits, Forbes stated.
It can help you improve your skin and sleep conditions
Getting a good skin is priceless and if sleeping naked would give that to you on a platter, why not?
Dr Odu added that sleeping naked improves skin condition. Bacteria and fungus thrive in a moist area and that includes the skin. So a cool bath at night, damp the water away and then sleeping naked will help the skin.
It is also on good record that the moment you set out to sleep in this mood, your body temperature naturally drops and it aids good sleep.
It definitely can improve your s3x life
Sleeping with the knowledge of having spouse inches aside is enough to release oxytocin (commonly referred to as love hormones).
Scientists say the chemical reduces stress, makes you feel more connected to your partner and increases your s3x drive.
According to a survey conducted on, 1,000 people, 57 per cent of nude sleepers reported being happier with their relationship, compared to just 48 per cent of clothing-clad catnappers.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the key is believed to be in the skin-on-skin contact, which triggers the release of the ‘feel good’ hormone oxytocin. As a result, you feel happier, more connected to your partner, and yes more likely to be interested in s3x.
Aids production of sperm
Sperm production requires a cool environment, which is why men are advised not to wear tight-fitting pants.
Dr Odu added that the testis requires a low temperature for sperm production. “Maintaining a cool temperature while sleeping would go a long way in promoting the development of healthy sperms.
“It is just one of the factors and not the only factor that makes the production of health sperms; of course, hoping that one has already met all the other requirements of healthy living, this will also compliment production of healthy sperms in the end,” he said.
