FG to train 10 million Nigerians on financial inclusion, digital skills

The Federal Government on Monday flagged off a free nationwide training programme aimed at equipping 10 million Nigerians with financial inclusion, financial literacy, and digital skills.

The initiative, being implemented by the Office of the Vice President through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), is designed to empower Nigerians—particularly women and youths—with essential financial knowledge, investment skills, and digital competencies needed for sustainable wealth creation.

Vice President Kashim Shettima chairs the committee overseeing the programme, which seeks to expand access to financial services while strengthening individual and enterprise capacity across the country.

As part of efforts to ensure effective delivery, the Office of the Vice President, through PreCEFI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six professional bodies to jointly design training curricula, certification pathways, digital skills initiatives, and mentorship platforms.

The professional bodies include the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA), Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI), and the Nigeria Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIIE).

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s financial and enterprise workforce while advancing the Federal Government’s broader agenda of inclusive economic growth and financial empowerment.
