FAAN rolls out cashless payment system at Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Friday announced designated pick-up points for its Go-Cashless cards as part of efforts to implement a cashless payment system at airports ahead of the March 1 deadline.

In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, in Lagos, the authority said members of the public can obtain the cards at all FAAN commercial offices and airport access gates nationwide with immediate effect.

Agbebire added that the cards will also be available at selected branches of Fidelity Bank Plc beginning March 16, expanding access for airport users and stakeholders.

According to him, the move aligns with a Federal Government directive requiring all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to adopt electronic transactions, reinforcing the transition to a cashless payment system at airports across the country.

He explained that the initiative is expected to enhance transparency, reduce revenue leakages and improve traceability of transactions within airport operations.

Agbebire appealed for public understanding and cooperation during the transition period, noting that the Go-Cashless cards will remain available at designated locations even after the March 1 deadline.

FAAN assured travellers, airport workers and service providers that the new arrangement will deliver faster, safer and more convenient transactions, fully entrenching the cashless payment system at airports nationwide.
