Abayomi Damilare, age 23, was given a six-month prison term on Monday, September 5, by a Mapo Grade “A” Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for pouring feces on a police officer.
Following the defendant’s admission of guilt and the enormous amount of evidence shown to the court, S.M. Akintayo, the court’s president, found the defendant guilty.
Mrs. Akintayo conducted a summary trial and gave the defendant a six-month sentence that included hard labour.
The convict was referred to as a “unrepentant criminal” by the court’s president. She said that the same court had sentenced the defendant to perform one month of community service in February for causing great bodily harm to his victim.
Sgt. Ayodele Ayeni, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant had been held at a police station for allegedly attacking a senior citizen.

Mr. Ayeni informed the court that Sgt. Abosede Olofintuyi, a policewoman, had responded to a distress call from the prisoner demanding to meet the investigating police officer in charge of the assault case. The call came from the prisoner while he was still being held.
“My lord, Damilare, was pounding on the cell door and demanding to speak with the IPO overseeing his case when the policewoman Olofintuyi went to help him.
But as soon as Olofintuyi opened the cell gate, Damilare splashed faeces over her body, the prosecutor claimed.
However, the prosecutor provided the court with an assault photos and the defendant’s confessional testimony as exhibits.
According to Mr. Ayeni, the offence was under Section 356 of the Criminal Code Cap. Nigeria’s Oyo State Law, 2000, is number 38.
