Elon Musk has launched Grokipedia, a new Grok AI encyclopedia that aims to rival Wikipedia. The platform uses AI to create articles while reflecting Musk’s perspective on information.
Grokipedia copies Wikipedia’s simple design and referencing style. But it is much smaller, with just over 800,000 articles, compared to Wikipedia’s more than 7 million.
Unlike Wikipedia, where anyone can edit entries, it is unclear how much human oversight shapes Grokipedia’s content. Users can submit feedback if they spot mistakes.
Musk explained his vision on X: “The goal of Grok and Grokipedia.com is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.” He added that he hopes to preserve copies “etched in a stable oxide in orbit, the Moon and Mars for the future.”

The launch comes amid long-standing claims of bias on Wikipedia. Musk has said Wikipedia is “controlled by far-left activists.”
Observers have already noticed differences between Grokipedia and Wikipedia articles about Musk. Wikipedia calls him a “polarizing figure” and cites criticism over COVID-19 misinformation, conspiracy theories, and controversial statements on race and gender. Grokipedia, on the other hand, says he “has influenced broader debates on technological progress, demographic decline, and institutional biases.” It cites Forbes’ billionaires rankings rather than specific articles.
Musk says the Grok AI encyclopedia will improve over time. “As Grok improves, so will Grokipedia. We are embedding the principles of critical thinking and cogency into Grok,” he wrote.
