Elon Musk calls for EU abolition after X fined $140m

Tech billionaire Elon Musk called for the European Union (EU) to be abolished on Saturday, a day after the bloc fined his social media platform, X, $140 million.

Responding to a post by Hungary’s Prime Minister on alleged EU corruption, Musk wrote on X, “The EU should be abolished, and sovereignty returned to individual countries, so that governments can better represent their people.” He added, “The European Union is not DEMOcracy – rule of the people – but rather BUREAUcracy – rule of the unelected bureaucrat! I love Europe, but not the bureaucratic monster that is the EU.”
