The Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) has outlined a simplified process for Nigerians seeking to obtain a vehicle tinted permit through its online platform.
According to information on the official portal, applicants can complete the process in eight straightforward steps using the virtual verification system.
1. Visit the portal: Log on to possap.gov.ng and register or sign in to your account.
2. Start application: Click on “Apply for Service” and select “Tint Permit.”
3. Verification method: Choose “Virtual Verification” and provide personal details such as gender, state, and LGA of residence.
4. Enter VIN and pay fees: Input your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and make a payment of ₦1,275 on the VVS portal.
5. Provide vehicle details: Submit accurate information including year of manufacture, colour, plate number, and owner’s full name, alongside required documents such as passport photograph, proof of ownership, and vehicle licence data page. Applicants must also upload images of the vehicle’s front, rear, side view, and VIN.

6. Submit and pay: Review the application, submit, and complete the online payment.
7. Facial verification: Proceed with facial verification to confirm identity.
8. Approval and permit download: Once approved, applicants can download and print their tinted permit.
The online procedure, according to POSSAP, is designed to make the application process easier, faster, and more transparent for motorists.
