Recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday in lengthy epistle accused President Muhammadu Buhari of been lay back and choosy in the fight against corruption, particularly where persons close to him are involved.
The arrest has however received mix reactions from Nigerians, some of which are captured below.
All of a sudden they announce that the committee on restructuring will submit its report tomorrow. All of a sudden Babachir Lawal is detained. Maybe other former Presidents should also write letters. Then may be all of a sudden we will deal with herdsmen killings and other issues

Last year some accused @MBuhari of not moving fast enough on the cases of Babachir Lawal et. al. I had told people to give him time, well, here we go…
I hope naysayers will at least admit progress, even if silently… pic.twitter.com/2XrzkPGs4N— Mr. Aye Dee (@MrAyeDee) January 24, 2018
The EFCC has detained Babachir Lawal, immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation. This is so knee jerk predictable! I predicted yesterday that going by their antecedents, the Buhari admin will take a dramatic decision to try to distract from Obasanjo’s letter.
