In the bid to become successful, many understand the role of others in accelerating their dreams and so they deliberately position theirselves to be on the receiving end in a team.
This mindset is sometimes birthed by the notion that team member(s) are perfect and so they do not need anything from you.
As much as that might look true for some team(s), it is important to say that your place in a team is not to be perpetually on the receiving end.
The initial unpronounced effect of always being receiving member is that you place yourself deliberately at the position where you let other members ‘own you’.
I am not saying that receiving is bad; what I mean is, you should always have a give back plan for everything you get for free.
A person always desiring free things is on the journey to mental slavery. It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Understand that you don’t get better by receiving but you grow by contributing to other people’s life.
Zig Ziglar said: “You can get everything in life you want if you help enough people get what they want.”
So, in your team, the level and quality of your contribution will ultimately affect your personal development and performance.
Many a times we feel bad when someone close to us makes comment like ‘after all I have done for you…’ what it means is that such person was really taking account of how much he/she have contributed and how you have not. Make the decision today to contribute more than receiving in your team without keeping scores (Be on the giving side) because of the following reasons:
* You own yourself
*You grow as you strive to contribute worthwhile in team
* You maintain your respect and you are also known for something
*You ignite other members to contribute
