The suspended Nnewi North local government chairman, Mbazulike Iloka, has been arrested following the alleged link to his wife’s death.
The Anambra State police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest to Punch on Wednesday.
Ikenga, however, called for caution from the public, saying that the case is being investigated as an autopsy will prove the cause of the wife’s death.
HURIWA had in a press release earlier issued after the suspension of the chairman urged the Anambra State Police Command to arrest him, saying his suspension was not enough.
The group said the state government must ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of the LG boss beyond his suspension.
