Foluke Adeboye, wife of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared how divine guidance saved her family from tragedy on New Year’s Day.
Speaking during a recent church programme, the 77-year-old cleric revealed that their family dog died after eating a poisoned meal that was unknowingly brought to their residence as a New Year gift.
According to Mrs. Adeboye, she felt a sudden unease upon seeing the food and decided it shouldn’t be eaten by anyone in the house. Acting on that instinct, she instructed her staff to give the meal to their dogs instead.
“Somebody brought food to our house on New Year’s Day. I entered the kitchen and asked who owned it. They said someone brought it. I looked at the food and asked them to give it to the dogs,” she recounted.
She said a visitor from London who witnessed the scene was initially surprised by her decision, but an hour later, the household was shocked to learn that the dog had died after eating the meal.
“The woman from London almost scolded me for wasting food, but an hour later, the gateman came to say the dog had died,” she added.

Mrs. Adeboye expressed gratitude to God for divine discernment, noting that the outcome could have been tragic if any family member had eaten the food.
“Imagine if on New Year’s Day, someone in Daddy G.O’s house ate that food. What would the news have been?” she asked.
She urged worshippers to be prayerful and cautious when receiving gifts, especially during festive seasons, emphasizing the importance of spiritual sensitivity and divine protection.
Pastor Enoch and Foluke Adeboye, who got married in 1967, have continued to share messages of faith, wisdom, and vigilance with members of the RCCG and beyond.
