Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar resigns on health grounds

Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has stepped down from office, citing health challenges, according to a statement from the Presidency.

The Badaru Abubakar resignation was communicated in a letter dated December 1 and addressed to President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu accepted the minister’s decision and expressed gratitude for his service to the nation.

He is expected to notify the Senate of a new nominee for the position later this week, as the Badaru Abubakar resignation creates a key vacancy in the security leadership.
