Dangote Group Refutes Ownership of Truck in Akungba-Akoko Accident

Dangote Group has denied ownership of a truck involved in a recent road accident in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, refuting reports that linked the company to the incident.

In a statement made available to the media, the Dangote Group clarified that the truck with registration number JJJ 365 XB does not belong to the company or any of its subsidiaries. Verified vehicle registration details, according to the statement, show that the truck is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no affiliation to Dangote.

The company added that the vehicle was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks carrying various brand names, not Dangote products. It explained that all Dangote Group trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated under strict fleet management and safety standards.

“For clarity, all our vehicles carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers, making them easily identifiable,” the company said.

While expressing sympathy for victims of the accident, the Dangote Group urged the public and media outlets to verify information before attributing ownership or involvement to the company. It also cautioned against using images of Dangote-branded trucks in reports about unrelated incidents.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, regulatory compliance, and responsible corporate practices across all its operations in Nigeria and beyond.
