An Ikorodu Customary Court on Friday in Lagos dissolved the 12-year-old marriage of a 63-year-old estate manager, Sikiru Ojifinni, and his wife, Toyin, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.
The court’s President, Mrs Funmi Adeola, who pronounced the union dissolved, said:“Having put you to test to check if your bad attitude towards your husband will change, we reconciled you in 2015.
“We later got a report from your husband that you still provoke and threaten his life; this marriage has broken down irretrievably.
“I hereby dissolve this marriage.”
Adeola directed that the ex-husband should pay N15, 000 monthly as feeding allowance of the three children of the marriage.
She, however, warned the woman to stop threatening her husband’s life and drop the man’s surname.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ojifinni had filed a petition against his fashion designer wife in 2015 over what he called the wife’s provocative behaviour and a threat to his life.
The 47-year-old fashion designer, Toyin, who lives at Ojifinni Street, Ikorodu, had earlier pleaded with the court for a possible reconciliation.
