United States President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. Department of War to prepare for potential military action against Nigeria, accusing the Nigerian government of allowing the killing of Christians across the country.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social account on Saturday, Trump warned that the U.S. would immediately suspend all aid and assistance to Nigeria if the attacks on Christians continue.
He said America might launch a military intervention to eliminate what he described as “Islamic terrorists” responsible for the killings.
The president also directed the War Department to begin preparations for a possible strike, describing any U.S. response as swift and forceful.
He urged the Nigerian government to act swiftly to prevent further violence against Christian communities.
He wrote, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, “guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.
“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” stating that Christianity in the nation faces an existential threat.
He alleged that thousands of Christians have been killed by radical Islamist groups and called for an immediate congressional investigation into the crisis.
