Popular comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ota in Ogun State.
The incident happened under the Sango-Ota bridge on Sunday afternoon. The exact details of the shooting are still unclear.
A police source, who spoke anonymously, said the comedian was filming a skit at the location when the incident happened.
The source said he was quickly taken to Blooming Care Hospital for treatment.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have full details yet, but his crew members rushed him to the hospital,” the source said, adding that medical workers gave him first aid on arrival.
However, he was later moved to Duchess International Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is said to be recovering.
When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the hospital informed the police about the case.
She said detectives and a patrol team were sent to the hospital after the report was received.
“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer known as Broda Shaggi,” she said.

“He was on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The incident happened in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing.”
However, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the case had not been officially reported to the command.
“The incident was said to have happened in Ogun State, but it has not been reported to us,” she said.
