The United States has delivered critical military equipment to Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), which announced that American forces supplied key military materials to Nigerian security partners in Abuja to support ongoing operations and reinforce bilateral security cooperation.
The development comes a day after the Federal Government confirmed that the United States had agreed to partner with Nigeria to address growing insecurity across the country.
The renewed engagement follows recent concerns raised by the US administration under President Donald Trump, which had earlier warned of possible intervention over attacks on Christians in Nigeria if the situation did not improve.

A Nigerian delegation, led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, held meetings with officials from the US Congress, the White House Faith Office, the State Department, the National Security Council and the Department of War.
During the engagements, the delegation dismissed claims of genocide in Nigeria, stressing that violent attacks cut across religious and ethnic lines and affect communities nationwide.
Following the discussions, the United States signalled its readiness to deepen security collaboration with Nigeria through improved intelligence sharing, faster processing of defence equipment requests and the possible supply of additional defence assets to support operations against terrorist and extremist groups.
