Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has officially resigned from his post amid unspecified allegations, less than 15 months after his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The resignation was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
President Tinubu has accepted the resignation, thanking Nnaji for his service and wishing him success in his future pursuits.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation on Tuesday, citing political blackmail as part of the reasons for his decision.

“I have been a target of blackmail by political opponents,” Nnaji said in his resignation letter.
Despite the circumstances, the former minister thanked the President for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.
“I thank the President for allowing me to serve Nigeria,” he stated.
In response, President Tinubu expressed appreciation for Nnaji’s contributions to his administration and wished him well in his next chapter.
“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours,” said Bayo Onanuga,
The resignation follows unspecified allegations reportedly made against the former minister. No further details were provided in the official communication, and no successor has been named yet.
