Cork Airport has been shut to all incoming and outgoing flights after the private jet’s nose gear allegedly buckled as it was preparing for take off.
Incoming flights are being diverted to Shannon Airport, including several Ryanair and Aer Lingus flights that were due to land at Cork.
The airport said the front wheel burst on the tarmac, and initially expected minor delays before confirming a crane is now needed to remove the plane.

It initially said on Twitter: “Minor disruption to operations @CorkAirport as an executive jet incurred a burst nose wheel before departure.
“Aircraft will be towed presently from main runway to allow flights to resume. We apologise to passengers affected by this delay.”
In an update at 4.15pm it said: “A crane is en route to remove the executive jet from runway 16 @CorkAirport following a burst nose wheel before departure.
“We apologise to passengers affected by this delay to operations this Sunday afternoon.”
The airport has confirmed there are believed to be no injuries.
The plane involved in the incident at around 3.15pm is a Cessna 750 Citation private jet.
