Arsenal dropped crucial points in the Premier League title race after playing out a 1-1 draw against Brentford on Thursday night, a result that weakened their grip at the top of the table.
The Gunners went into the match knowing Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Fulham had increased the pressure, but they failed to restore their six-point cushion.
Arsenal struggled for long spells and offered little in the first half, with Brentford looking the more dangerous side. Igor Thiago nearly gave the hosts the lead, but David Raya produced a strong save to keep Arsenal level.
The visitors improved after the break and took the lead in the 61st minute when Noni Madueke headed home Piero Hincapie’s cross past Caoimhín Kelleher.
However, Brentford responded quickly through Keane Lewis-Potter, who nodded in from close range after chaos from a long throw.

Both teams had late chances to win, but neither could find a second goal.
Declan Rice urged calm after the game, saying: “You can’t be naïve to think this is going to be easy.”
Mikel Arteta admitted Brentford’s physical style made things difficult, adding: “The chaos in and around the ball is very difficult to defend.”
Brentford manager Keith Andrews praised his players and felt they deserved more.
“I thought we were excellent and looked the team most likely to win,” he said.
Arsenal remain top on 57 points, with Manchester City second on 53. Brentford stay seventh and continue their push for a European place.
