Arnold Schwarzenegger refuels war with Trump, says ‘mission is to bring sanity to Washington’

Arnold Schwarzenegger has shot down speculation he is
planning to launch a Senate bid, stating that his mission is to “bring sanity
to Washington,” refuelling war with US president, Donald Trump.
The former California Governor took to Facebook to tell fans
that while he was “flattered” by the suggestion he might be seeking to revive
his political career, it did not fall in line with his plans.
“I’m deeply flattered

by all of the people who have
approached me about running for Senate, but my mission right now is to bring
sanity to Washington through redistricting reform like we passed here in
California,” he said.

Tossing fuel on to his raging feud with Donald Trump, the
69-year-old said he was determined to correcting gerrymandering which had
“broken’ the system.

Touting his crusade to address it, he continued: “I believe
my best platform to help repair it is from the outside, by campaigning for
independent redistricting commissions.”
Speculation surrounding Schwarzenegger’s political ambitions
have grown with his feud with the president, Dailymail said.
After his departure from the Celebrity Apprentice earlier
this month, many suspected he might toss his hat back into the ring to take on
Trump who has publicly blamed him for the show’s poor ratings.
Trump insists Schwarzenegger was fired because of the
shrinking audience.
Schwarzenegger says he no longer wants to be involved
because of Trump’s affiliation with the franchise.
Last week, Schwarzenegger’s spokesman refused to rule out a
possible Senate campaign.
“Right now, Gov Schwarzenegger’s focus is on using his
platform to bring some sensibility and coherency to Washington by fighting for
redistricting reform, like we did in California,” they told Politico.

“We are keeping all of our options open as far as how we can
accomplish that.”
He would likely have run against incumbent Democrat Dianne
Feinstein who will be up for re-election in 2018.
