Anambra: Mortician shares video showing multiple bodies, stirs debate on death

A video circulating online from a morgue in Anambra State has sparked debate after a mortician shared footage showing several bodies stored inside the facility.

The clip, posted on TikTok, shows what appears to be an overcrowded storage space, prompting discussions about standards in local mortuary care and the dignity of the deceased.

The unidentified mortician behind the video did not provide details about the location but appeared to use the post to highlight working conditions in the facility.

The footage quickly drew reactions from viewers, with some expressing unease about the setting.

One user, @Prestigious_Gt, said they could never work in such an environment regardless of pay, writing, “I can never work in a place like this even if they will pay £100/hour.”

Another commenter, @neo_officialll, questioned the legality of sharing such content online, asking, “Is this even legal? Morticians are allowed to have pages on social media?”

Criticism also came from @Lanredeola, who described the video as “distasteful and condemnable,” adding that the scene appeared to show bodies “packed together like sardines.”

Others framed the post as a reminder of human mortality. User @_arinzay wrote, “Our discomfort with death often stems from a misunderstanding of life… These rooms aren’t scary; they are the final chapters of our shared story.”

Another commenter, @EnemikuP, reflected that exposure to such scenes may influence how people think about life, saying, “God purposely gave us short memories… if these things intrusively play in our thoughts for long, we won’t have the zeal to live with ambitions.”
