VIDEO: Trump speaks, releases CCTV of suspect in shooting incident

US President Donald Trump has spoken on the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and released CCTV footage of the suspect linked to the attack in Washington, D.C.

The video, released before Trump addressed the press, shows the suspect rushing into the ballroom at the Washington Hilton. The person is seen moving past security screening points while armed officers quickly moved in to stop him.

Trump described the suspect as a “would-be assassin” and said the person was heavily armed when he forced his way through a key security area. Reports also quoted him saying the suspect “charged past a security checkpoint” carrying multiple weapons.

Images shared by the president showed a shirtless man lying face down in a hallway with his hands tied behind his back. Authorities confirmed that the suspect has now been arrested and is in custody.
