Jim Iyke: If seeing her costs money, it’s not love but ‘prostitution’

Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has stirred conversation on social media after sharing his views on financial expectations in romantic relationships.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, the movie star said that if a man has to spend money every time he meets his partner, then such a relationship should not be regarded as genuine.

“If it costs you money every time you see her, that’s prostitution not a relationship,” he wrote.

His statement quickly generated mixed reactions online, with many users debating his choice of words.

While some agreed that excessive financial demands can be a red flag in relationships, others criticised his comparison, describing it as controversial and insensitive.

Mr Larendo wrote, “He [Jim Iyke] has no right to tell me what I should do in my relationship.”

“That’s a big red flag you will go broke and go into depression,” @Kwaba wrote.

Truth_pq added,  “It’s even a myth to think it won’t cost u money anytime u see any Nigerian girl.”

“Not prostitution but a pure red flag,” RealQudzzy said.
