Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he is no longer passionate about going into politics.
Speaking during a livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, the singer said his change of heart was largely influenced by what he has observed about other celebrities who made the move from entertainment into politics.

“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things, the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful,” he said.
Davido, who previously had an interest in partisan politics, said his legacy in the entertainment industry and the reality on ground have made him skeptical about pursuing that path.
He added that politics, in his view, is a profession best left to those already in it.
“I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business,” he said.
