A Nigerian woman, Akwaugo Nwaoma, has caused a stir online after posting an open letter to Femi Otedola, asking to marry his son, Fewa Otedola.
In the post on her X (formerly Twitter) page, Akwaugo described Fewa as “quiet, cute, and fresh,” and said her interest is not about his family’s money.
“Dear Mr Otedola, I hope this meets you well. I’m not a woman of many words, so I will get straight to the point. I would love to marry your son, Fewa,” she wrote. “Please note that I’m not after your money; I simply love your son. I am educated, young, beautiful, and fresh. I look forward to hearing from you, sir.”
The letter quickly went viral, drawing reactions across social media. Some, like Temidun (@Amebobab), called her “a gold digger,” questioning whether she would feel the same if Fewa were not wealthy. Others, such as Ketoski (@realKetoski), suggested people ignore it.
Some took a humorous view. Floki (@Iam_kiNGn) joked about how Otedola might respond, while Hegedey Couture (@godwin52868) made a light comment about the economy: “With fuel at ₦1,500/litre, even I am looking for a billionaire’s daughter to write a letter to. Who ‘fresh and beautiful’ helps in this economy?”

Others questioned the sincerity of her letter. Ghodslove (@GodloveOfaka) wrote, “‘I’m not after your money’ is exactly what someone marrying into a billionaire family would say first.” SARAH (@zemehe_) added, “If you’re not after the money, then what are you after?”
A few users expressed curiosity or mild support. Unpopular Opinion (@Andy_Dgr8) said a friend had secretly admired Fewa, hoping the Otedola family would “listen and bless their union.” Meanwhile, VibeFlux (@wise32GB) noted, “Telling a billionaire you’re not after money is bold; you’re indirectly saying you’re after it.”
Some questioned why she targeted Fewa specifically. Bayo Blessed (@BaayoBlessed) wrote, “Why only Otedola’s son?” Draco (@whereisrynn) joked, “She’s really on a mission 😹😹😹.”
